Body: Frozen shoulder is a medical condition caused by hardness and pain in the shoulder joints. Also called adhesive capsulitis, in this condition, shoulder become hard to move with the time. The signs of this disorder develop gradually, get worse with time, and resolve completely, within 1 to 3 years. Though there is no specific age for this condition, it appears in people between the ages of 40 and 60 years. This condition occurs more often in females as compared to males.

Stages of Frozen Shoulder 

There are three stages to this condition that can last for several months. These stages are:

Freezing Stage: In this stage, any movement of shoulders results in pain. This stage can last anywhere from 1 to 9 months. 

Frozen Stage: In this stage, shoulder pain can become better, but the motion of shoulders becomes more difficult. It can last from 4 to 12 months. 

Thawing Stage: When you reach this stage, the stiffness of your shoulder starts to improve. It may take anywhere from 6 months to 2 years.

 

Causes of Frozen Shoulder 

The actual cause of this disorder is not clear, but people of some age groups, i.e., between the ages of 40 and 60 are more prone to this condition. Certain conditions that put you at higher risk for causing adhesive capsulitis.
